  An OK supplement to the music book

  I bought this to use along with my Suzuki music book for cello. I'm an adult learning to play for the first time and thought that by hearing it played properly, I could then accurately mimic.I only give it a "3" because the piano plays so loudly over the cello that you can hear it sometimes and you miss subtle nuances that would be nice for a beginner to hear.Also, it's JUST the music from the book it goes with.   "Tunes Tighter So You Sound Better."I'm impressed with the Snark tuners. I own the Blue SN-1 for guitars and the Red SN-2 with extended range and a built in mic for all instruments. Better than I thought they'd be. Least important is the finish, but the finish is beautiful. Much better than any of the company pictures I've seen on websites. The blue and red colors are an intense rare metallic color. The Snark only weighs about 1.5 ounces with a very expertly made clamp with rubber gripping jaws. The lower jaw hinges allowing it to fit any contour. I have an Ovation with the angled head stock. The Snark clips right on and stays there. And with a ball socket on each end of the curved mounting post that connects the clamp to the face we're talking 360 degress maneuvering making the Snark perfectly adjustable for most any situation.Comes complete with a CR2032 Lithium 3 volt battery.   Best clip-on tuner I've ever used!

  After trying several clip-on tuners for my guitars, banjos, and mandolins, this is definitely the best I've ever used. It works very well on all three instruments. It's accurate, the lighted display is very visible with bright colors for flat, sharp, and right-on. The head of the display swivels easily in any direction for easy viewing. It also allows tuning by both vibration or sound. The red color of the tuner's exterior makes it easy to find in my gig bag but is not obnoxiously bright when placed on the headstock.   I bought this just to see if it would work as the reviews say. I was surprised that it really does work. I even ordered another one. Just clamp it and forget it. I use it on my ukuleles, from the soprano, concert, tenor to the baritone it works on all of them. I also like the fact that it has a metronome, no sound but just a little heart that flashes, which you can set the tempo also. I like it better that the Lanikai Chromatic & Ukulele LUT-1 Tuner. I like the fact that it is lighted so you can see the screen in low light settings. Try it you will like it.I also wanted to add that by using this you can also learn the fret board.   We bought the Cello for our daughter who was just learning how to play. I was nervous to buy it online, sight unseen, but this was cheaper than renting. At least at the places I looked at. Our daughter's orchestra teacher said it was a good buy and was really impressed that it came with a hard case and a stand. I would buy from them again.   What a Bargain......

  We ordered this cello for our son, a beginner to Cello lessons. He is a 4th grader and began band music with the violin. 7 months into playing violin, he insisted on playing the cello. The price was so low on the cecilio compared to even renting, so I felt I had nothing to lose. The cello arrived on time in perfect condition. It cost me $6.00 to install the bridge and have it tuned in a matter of minutes. The cello store was a bit snobbish as they hinted of the lesser quality of the cello. They were probably right considering their cheapest cello was $900.00. My son's teacher was pleased and my son was thrilled with the Cecilio cello. Assuming he sticks with it for the next year and still loves, We'll consider an upgrade. This cello was a bargain and a must for cello beginners.   You get what you pay for...

  This is a VERY cheap quality cello! The cello arrived with a fallen sound post. The bridge that shipped with it is NOT cut or grooved correctly. The nut on the cello is NOT grooved correctly. The fit of the pegs is a joke. The fingerboard is EXTREMELY rough and very poorly finished. The seams on the cello are also very rough. THE NECK IS NOT JOINTED AND VERY NEARLY CAME OFF THE CELLO WHEN I TRIED TO TENSION THE STRINGS!!!! The bow that came with it is a child's toy that is poorly haired and not at all usable. The only issue I ran into was the clear envelopes does not fit an A2 envelope.My use for these clear envelopes is putting a completed set into each; a set being a finished card and an envelope to go with the card.   Nice case for the price

  We bought this case for a used 3/4 size cello we got for our 4th grade daughter who is just starting. The case that came with it was hard to carry. This one is good, it has plenty of handles and two backpack style straps so she can carry the instrument (which is almost as big as she is) at school. There's a pocket for music, another for rosin etc, and a bow pocket. The description says it has 15mm padding, which led me to believe that it was more padded than it actually is - it's basically the nylon outer and a thin inner liner providing a tiny bit of padding.   Remember - it's a cello bag, not a case.

  This cello bag lets me keep my cello dust free and provides me with a place to store my bow. The padding is not very thick, and zipping up the bag is kind of a chore when there's a cello in it - it always flops around on me and has to be adjusted carefully or it will slip and zipping it up will be a chore.I have owned this bag for 33 days now, and there is already a small rip developing along an edge seam, and that is just from my use which has involved nothing more than taking my cello out and putting it back in when I am done.   We put these strings on my daughter's cello that had cheap stock strings, and were surprised at the huge improvement in tone. Very clear and bright--probably too bright for an advanced player, but good for the student players that these strings are designed for.   I am an adult learning the cello. I would be considered an intermediate to advanced beginner.Position Pieces is an outstanding way to learn the positions on the cello. Some of the tunes are somewhat juvenile, but they have all challenged me.The book also incorporates other techniques in the pieces, so it's more than just shifting.   Position Studies for Cello

  Being a "mature" cello student, I needed studies that would help me to visualize where I am on the cello. Though the pieces in this book are not particularly challenging, they are exactly what I need to familiarize myself with the different positions. The pieces switch back and forth from "home" (first) position to the one you are practicing, giving a valuable study in shifting to the new position. The written exercises at the beginning of each change in position are a help to establish finger spacing before starting out. I have been pleased with all the books by Rick Mooney that I have purchased (Thumb Position 1 & 2, Double Stops 1 and Position Pieces for Cello 1). First couple bars or lines have the fingerings then they start getting scarcer and scarcer as the piece goes on. That way you are not using them as a crutch but if you get stumped you can look back at the beginning to figure it out. Unlike Suzuki books which offer two sets of fingers for every single note. I also like the written exercises at the beginning of each new position so that you can make sure you "get it" before you actually play.
