This review is from: Merano CC200 1/2 Size Cello Hard Case My daughter started going to the Conservatory two weeks ago, taking her cello only twice a week. The metal part of the straps have already broken. The wheels are too close together and the cello is not stable when rolled. The top handle is not confortable to pull from. The zipper has already started to block at certain points, and the internal strap that holds the arm in place is loose and was holding with a pin, which of course did not hold either. The only good thing about the case is it is lightweight. Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , September 9, 2015

    Great Quality Instrument!!

I have been playing violin for three years now and I felt it was time to take the plunge into the electric violin world. I was also looking for something relatively inexpensive since my main violin is on the higher end. This was the perfect choice.Sound - Try as it might, it just can't replicate the sound of an acoustic violin (which I wasn't looking for anyway). It can get pretty close though and all in all the sound is nice. The pickup is good, not the best quality but it does its job pretty well. As for being silent, it is quieter than an acoustic with a mute, but not completely silent.Construction/Look - The body is nice and solid unlike some of the cheap online instruments you can get. The finish is well done and the ebony pieces with mother of pearl inlays look rather nice. The inlays fall flush too, nothing sticking out at all. The pegs don't slip at all. The only thing I could find wrong with the construction was the bridge. It was a bit too high but... 5/5 Mike - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) Perfect Violin for Me!

So, I haven't played the violin since grade school. And I rent a room in a house, so I was wanted a violin that would be quiet. So, I choose this one... Alas, it's not really "quiet" or silent (even with a mute). Its "quieter" than an acoustic. But still, due to the vibrations, it still gives off its own sound.I was looking for a inexpensive violin. But the other ones I checked out, looked like crap. They had a plastic body, which I am not into.I love the fact that this Cecilio has a wooden body with the mother of earl details. It actually looks much nicer in person, than the pictures. Smells great too (but then I love the smell of fresh cute wood and rosin... call me crazy). And the sound is great (to me anyways, as a beginner). And since it is new, I know that in a few years the sound will mature. (hence another reason I wanted a violin with a wooden body, not plastic).Buying this violin was a big step for me. Since, Electric violins are... 5/5 Latoya M Michel (Seattle, WA United States) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) Totally AMAZING! But I have a question about the bridge...

I love this violin so much, it sounds great and looks great. I'm not rating the bow. It's a typical cheap bow but it works just fine. My only issue with this thing has to do with the bridge. It is so oddly shaped... It slants upward, making the G string MUCH higher than the E. What I'm used to is a perfect arch for a bridge. The G and E are even, and the D and A are even, both slightly higher than the G and E. From what I understand, this gives a better ability to switch strings. I believe it. My acoustic violin is very easily played, perfect arch, and I love it. This electric I love also, but it's sooo hard not to hit the G string while playing the D, It just feels weird. I'm either gonna shave it down or have it replaced. Bridges only costs a few bucks, that's why I'm giving this instrument a 5 star. I do wonder though if there are any advantages to this Bridge design? Thanks in advance. As for the rest of it, totally amazing!!! It's surprising, the headphones feel really... 5/5 Jessica Hurd - See all my reviews, January 4, 2011

    Relieved and impressed

After reading some of the other reviews, I was cautiously optimistic that I would get the cello I wanted with Cecilio. I'm a beginner, so I took it straight to the shop to have the bridge placed and get higher quality strings put on it. When it was done, I promptly fell in love with it. It is much louder and more clear and resonant than my older Cremona, and it is truly beautiful to look at. It seems very well constructed, although the guy at the shop seemed to doubt that the finger board is solid ebony, rather than stained rosewood. He assures me that the body is solid birch/maple rather than laminated, so that much at least is confirmed. The fine tuners on mine aren't nickle as described either, rather gold plated but that doesn't matter so much to me. Over all, the cello seems to be as described, and is lovely. The bow is exactly as described, very nice. When you figure that for $999.99 you get not only the cello, but a very nice hard case, a carry bag and a stand with this... 5/5 Amazon Customer - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) Worst cello ever? No. Not even close. Bargain though? ABSOLUTELY!!!

So, if you reading this, then you've probably read all of the other reviews that claim this is the worst instrument ever. Avoid, avoid, avoid!!! One reviewer even claimed that the cello had measurements that were not "standard." Well, firstly, I'll tell you that there are NO standard measurements for a cello. There never were. And there never will be. There are average measurements, though, but those are not standard. Most cellos are made with measurements from the Stradivarius cello, but not all are. Any luthier can design a cello with whatever measurements they want. As long as each string registers at the note that they're supposed to, the possibilities are pretty much endless. That being said, most luthiers stick with common designs because they know that they work––why design something new when something old works just as well? That is definitely the case with this cello. It's dimensions are based off of the original Stradivarius––just as most... 5/5 Diane Ann Joseph - See all my reviews, December 11, 2014
