WHO WAS INDIAS FIRST CRICKET COACH?
Ajit Wadekar was the first to coach the Indian cricket team. He was both the manager and the coach of the Indian cricket team from 1992 to 1996. John Wright was Indias first foreign coach.
WHAT IS A SUCKER BALL IN CRICKET?
When a bowler intends to tempt batsman into scoring runs by bowling a ball which appears easy to hit and the batsman hits the ball but t results in his dismissal by either being stumped, bowled or caught, such ball is called a sucker ball.
WHICH BATSMAN HAS REMAINED NOT OUT MOST OFTEN IN CRICKET ODIS?
Michael Bevan of Australia has remained not out most often in ODI cricket 67 times in 196 innings of 232 matches he has played. He has scored 6,912 runs with an average of (53.58).
WHO WAS THE YOUNGEST WINNER AT WIMBLEDON?
Swedish tennis legend Bjorn Borg was the youngest winner at Wimbledon. At 16, Borg was the Wimbledon junior champion in 1973. American Kathy Rinaldi, 15, was the youngest woman winner at Wimbledon (1981). Martina Hingis of Switzerland won the 1996 Wimbledon at 15 years too. At 17, Boris Becker won the mens singles title in 1985.
HOW MANY ONE-DAY INTERNATIONALS IN CRICKET HAVE ENDED IN A TIE?
Twenty one one-day international cricket matches have ended in a tie. While Australia has been involved in the most (8), the others are Pakistan (6), West Indies and South Africa (5), England, Zimbabwe and New Zealand (4 each) and India and Sri Lanka (3 each). Australia and South Africa have played four tied matches.
WHY IS CRICKET NOT A DISCIPLINE IN THE OLYMPICS?
Cricket was played just once, at the Paris Olympics in 1900. Cricket is played by just 10 countries at the highest level (though there are nearly 100 associate members of the ICC) and this would normally disqualify it from being included as an Olympic sport. The International Olympic Committee claims mass participation is a must (minimum of 16 nations). The only other occasion cricket was part of a multi-disciplinary meet was at the 1998 Commonwealth Games at Kuala Lumpur.
WHEN WERE COLOURED UNIFORMS INTRODUCED IN ODIS?
Coloured uniforms for ODIs were introduced in 1977 by Kerry Packer for the World Series matches in Australia which did not have official status, even though many world class cricketers took part. However, it was a revolution in itself. Its legacy is a permanent change in the way the game is funded, watched, played and perceived. World Series pioneered three-cornered tournaments, night cricket, floodlights, coloured clothing, coloured balls, drop-in pitches, on-field microphones and multitudinous
WHO HOLDS THE RECORD FOR WINNING THE MOST NUMBER OF OLYMPIC GOLD MEDALS FOR SWIMMING?
In the 1972 Munich Olympic games, Mark Spitz won seven Olympic gold medals, a feat yet unequalled by any other Olympic athlete. Even more remarkably, Spitz set a new world record in each of the seven events the 100 m freestyle, 200 m freestyle, 100 m butterfly, 200 m butterfly, 4 x 100 m freestyle, 4 x 200 m freestyle and the 4 x 100 m medley
IN CRICKET, WHAT IS POWER PLAY?
The original rules of ODIs stated that during the first 15 overs, only two fielders should be allowed outside a 30-metre circle around the wicket. This meant that attacking batsman were likely to score runs quickly in the first 15 overs, but would become more watchful at the end of the spell. In an effort to keep the game more exciting during the middle overs, the 15 over block with fielding restrictions at the beginning of the innings is reduced to 10, and thereafter, the captain of the fielding side has to decide when to bring his fielders in again for two further blocks of 5 overs, at any time he likes. These 5 over spells are called Powerplay 2 and Powerplay 3. (Powerplay 1 is the first block of 10).
WHAT IS THE MILEAGE OF F1 CARS?
For every 100 kilometres, a 900 bph F1 car uses 70 litres of petrol. A team uses about 1,200 litres of petrol during a Grand Prix weekend.
WHY IS THE SOUTH AFRICAN CRICKET TEAM CALLED PROTEAS?
The Protea flower with pink and yellow petals, is the national flower of South Africa, and hence their cricket team is called proteas. Similarly, South Africas rugby team is called springboks, which is the countrys national animal.
HAS ANY PLAYER IN CRICKET BEEN DECLARED OUT BECAUSE HE CAME LATE TO THE GROUND TO BAT?
Law 31 in cricket provides that an incoming batsman must be in position to take guard or for his partner to be ready to receive the next ball within 3 minutes of the fall of the previous wicket. If this requirement is not met, the incoming batsman will be declared timed out. The fielding side has to appeal for the wicket to be awarded. There is no known incidence of this in an international match. There are three cases, however, in first class cricket. H Yadav Tripura vs Orissa at Cuttack in 1997; Vasbert Drakes Border vs Free State at East London in 2002 and A J Harris Nottinghamshire vs Durham UCCE at Nottingham in 2003.

The Wide World Of Wireless Communications

USApostXpress The Wide World Of Wireless Communications
A solution to that would be using the hands free or the voice speaker where the cellular phone will remain away from a persons head, therefore there will be no worries regarding safety.
Therefore, a good solution to this problem would be to pull over and then receive your call where it will be much safer for you and others that are with you on the road.
The usage of cellular phones causes cancer as scientists have proved it. It also distracts drivers away from the road therefore causing accidents and killing people. Cellular phones also develop bad phone manners where a person raises his voice once he starts using it and it becomes a habit later on.
On the other hand, the necessity of using a Cellular phone can be very helpful as it can help a lost camper to find his way back by just allowing him to make a call and ask for directions. Also, if certain areas of the city are considered to be dangerous, then using the payphone could be inconvenient and life threatening, therefore the cellular phone comes in hand and can help solve the problem. An example of this would be, my dad when he went on a business trip to Japan. As it is impossible to understand the language of a totally different culture and country, as it is also hard to get around. If it werent for the cellular phone, my dad would have had a very hard time to get around and to even get to work. At several incidents, he vividly remembers that even going for a walk could be puzzling, as everything around looks similar.
Another absolute necessity would be for businessmen to use their cellular phones in order to conduct and to run their businesses. It is an absolute hassle if they do not carry it with them because a lot of important numbers, addresses, client names, and messages may be stored on it that helps them get through everyday work. On the other side of the spectrum, it helps the businessmens clients or visitors to have easy contact with him. An example of that would be my boss who I worked for during the summer as a secretary. He was supposed to meet with his client to discuss business over dinner. Up until the last hour just before the business dinner meeting, the client called in and apologized for not being able to make it as he had other more important issues to attend. In this case, it was easy and accessible for the client to make such a call and reach my boss in time to tell him so. This helped save time for my boss who could have been waiting there for a long time.
    Wireless communications
Wireless communications are becoming increasingly popular in todays fast paced world. Mobility, portability, and instant access (via the Internet) to unlimited information have become the mantra of businesses and individuals alike. The evolution of wireless communications has been incredibly quick and the future of this technology is unlimited. The impact of this technology on our lives will be tremendous and allow us to do things we never imagined.
    What Is Wireless Communication?
The two main wireless services in use today are cellular and private packet radio. The service that is chosen will depend on the application(s) that a company or individual wants to run.
    Cellular
Cellular technology is commonplace in both the business and private sector.
There are two types of cellular technology: 1) circuit-switched cellular, and 2) Cellular Digital Packet Data (CDPD). One of circuit-switched cellular biggest advantages is its nationwide availability. Another advantage is the ability to send voice and data over the cellular phone network. Circuit-switched cellular is ideal if the application requires the exchange of long text messages, large files, or faxes because it typically charges by the minute of connect time, not by the number of bytes transferred. A practical application for this technology is the transfer of data from a laptop by means of a cellular modem and phone. The initial cost to outfit a laptop to connect to a cellular network is about 0. A disadvantage of this type of service is the long set-up time each connection requires (about 30 seconds).
Cellular Digital Packet Data is best suited for transaction processing and database queries. This service offers fast call setup (about 5 seconds), and is inexpensive for short messages, such as sending e-mail. The main disadvantages of CDPD are the expense of large file transfers, and the limited availability of the service (currently it is available in about 40 cities nationwide).
    Private Packet Radio
Private packet radio, though not as common as cellular, offers businesses widespread connectivity. The two major private packet radio providers in the U.S. are Ardis and RAM Mobile Data. These services can be connected to from virtually anywhere in the country. Private packet radio offers quick call setup and is well suited to communications that generate short, bursty messages, such as e-mail, database queries and point of sale...

    INVENTORY MANAGEMENT

  • Sep 06, 2010 from JohnnyX87(Johnny A) in *
    JohnnyX87 INVENTORY MANAGEMENT
    1. INTRODUCTIONDEFINATION AND MEANING
Inventory is a list of goods and materials, or those goods and materials themselves, held available in stock by a business. Inventory are held in order to manage and hide from the customer the fact that manufacture/supply delay is longer than delivery delay, and also to ease the effect of imperfections in the manufacturing process that lower production efficiencies if production capacity stands idle for lack of materials.
    The reasons for keeping stock
All these stock reasons can apply to any owner or product stage.
Buffer stock is held in individual workstations against the possibility that the upstream workstation may be a little delayed in providing the next item for processing. Whilst some processes carry very large buffer stocks, Toyota moved to one (or a few items) and has now moved to eliminate this stock type.
Safety stock is held against process or machine failure in the hope/belief that the failure can be repaired before the stock runs out. This type of stock can be eliminated by programmes like Total Productive Maintenance
Overproduction is held because the forecast and the actual sales did not match. Making to order and JIT eliminates this stock type.
Lot delay stock is held because a part of the process is designed to work on a batch basis whilst only processing items individually. Therefore each item of the lot must wait for the whole lot to be processed before moving to the next workstation. This can be eliminated by single piece working or a lot size of one.
Demand fluctuation stock is held where production capacity is unable to flex with demand. Therefore a stock is built in times of lower utilisation to be supplied to customers when demand exceeds production capacity. This can be eliminated by increasing the flexibility and capacity of a production line or reduced by moving to item level load balancing. Line balance stock is held because different sub-processes in a line work at different rates. Therefore stock will accumulate after a fast sub-process or before a large lot size sub-process. Line balancing will eliminate this stock type.
Changeover stock is held after a sub-process that has a long setup or change-over time. This stock is then used while that change-over is happening. This stock can be eliminated by tools like SMED.
Where these stocks contain the same or similar items it is often the work practice to hold all these stocks mixed together before or after the sub-process to which they relate. This reduces costs. Because they are mixed-up together there is no visual reminder to operators of the adjacent sub-processes or line management of the stock which is due to a particular cause and should be a particular individuals responsibility with inevitable consequences. Some plants have centralized stock holding across sub-processes which makes the situation even more acute.
    The basis of Inventory accounting
Inventory needs to be accounted where it is held across accounting period boundaries since generally expenses should be matched against the results of that expense within the same period. When processes were simple and short then inventories were small but with more complex processes then inventories became larger and significant valued items on the balance sheet. This need to value unsold and incomplete goods has driven many new behaviours into management practise. Perhaps most significant of these are the complexities of fixed cost recovery, transfer pricing, and the separation of direct from indirect costs. This, supposedly, precluded anticipating income or declaring dividends out of capital. It is one of the intangible benefits of Lean and the TPS that process times shorten and stock levels decline to the point where the importance of this activity is hugely reduced and therefore effort, especially managerial, to achieve it can be minimised.
    LIFO V/S FIFO
When a dealer sells goods from inventory, the value of the inventory reduces by the cost of goods sold(CoG sold). This is simple where the CoG has not varied across those held in stock but where it has then an agreed method must be derived. For commodity items that one cannot track individually, accountants must choose a method that fits the nature of the sale. Two popular methods exist: FIFO and LIFO accounting (first in first out, last in first out). FIFO regards the first unit that arrived in inventory the first one sold. LIFO considers the last unit arriving in inventory as the first one sold. Which method an accountant selects can have a significant effect on net income and book value and, in turn, on taxation. Using LIFO accounting for inventory, a company generally reports lower net income and lower book value due to the effects of inflation. This generally results in lower taxation. Due to LIFOs potential to skew inventory value, UK GAAP and IAS have effectively banned LIFO inventory accounting.

101 Tips for Back to School

Build a complete checklist and sniff out superb sales with these 101 tips to get you thinking about what the scholars in your life could use this school year.

#1: All work and no play makes your kid's school experience no fun! Get a silly start to the year with a new set of Silly Bandz.

#2: Got a picky eater or disappointed in school lunch offerings? Every kid will wish they had you as a parent if you send them packing with a lunch bag, which is way more flexible and lighter than an old-fashioned lunchbox.

#3: Off to college? Everyone brings a microwave and a mini fridge - get more useful gear like a Nuwave oven that works wonders on anything your student could possibly want to eat!

#4: Ensure that files, reports, and research stays accessible and uncorrupted with a portable external hard drive that can travel with the us-in human hair extensions for under $90! I heard about these in my salon: Euronext Remy 18-inch Clip-In Hair Extensions for just $89.99! That's a crazy-good price! And, the reviews are extremely positive, so the overall value is outstanding. You get 8 clip-in wefts, and 2 tester wefts without clips.

    Supplements as a Solution.

I first heard about Viviscal from actress Finola Hughes who was making a guest appearance on the Wendy Williams Show. Recognize the name? She's been on soap operas like General Hospital and All My Children. She spoke about how she began losing hair after giving birth to one of her children, and how her hair loss woes went away after Viviscal. It's available for both women and men and is basically a natural marine-based protein supplement that works over six months to nourish, strengthen and promote hair growth of existing hair, promote growth of slowed/stopped hair, and then to keep the growing hair strong and healthy. It's been featured in the New York Times (said to help models with overworked hair), Vogue, Allure, and on Dateline. It claims to span age and ethnicity, and it's all-natural. I mean, at under $40 for a one-month supply, it's certainly seems worth a try! >> Try Viviscal starting at $39.65

Another supplement worth looking into is Kerastase Nutrients Densitive Daily Anti-Hair Thinning, Anti-Hair Loss Dietary Supplement; $49 for a one-month supply. Six months of use is also the recommended length of time for best results. It works by helping to maintain scalp micro-circulation at the hair bulb.

Here are other hair loss supplements formulated to help your hair. Browse them all>>>

    Shampoo as a Solution.

Using a hair loss shampoo can help you by treating your scalp from the outside-in. My dermatologist has recommended Nioxin (starting from under $15) as a great brand. There are eight different Nioxin systems designed to meet the needs for different hair types. To add er when the entire computer can't.

#5: Consider a color laser printer now that prices have come down. Your child might create the most gorgeous graphics for their projects and reports, but the quality of a color printer over a smudged (and expensive) inkjet or a grayscale printout could mean the difference between a B and an A.

#6: Prepare for unexpected periods with neon-colored supplies from U by Kotex that will make her the coolest girl in school - everyone will want to borrow from her stash!

#7: You don't want your kids to mess up their new school clothes with pit stains and smells, so tuck Speed Stick Stainguard deodorant in their backpack so girls and guys can refresh when they really need it.

#8: Stave off sick days with a children's multivitamin every morning.

#9: See if they're serious about actually being sick (as opposed to just playing hooky) with a top-notch digital thermometer that will tell the true story.

#10: Students who wear makeup don't need heavy foundations and concealers. Mineral makeup, like that offered by Youngblood Cosmetics, is the perfect weight for teen skin and is much better for the pores.

#11: Don't let limited student budgets be blown on expensive coffee shops - gift your student with teas and instant soups paired with an electric kettle.

#12: Further save money with instant coffee like Starbucks VIA.

#13: Pre-packaged food is a student staple, but it doesn't have to be boring and unhealthy if you send them off with a case of delicious Tasty Bite meals!

#14: Make not waking up impossible with multiple alarm clocks strategically placed around the room.

#15: Boost brain function with a fish oil supplement, like Coromega Omega3 + Vitamin D.

    #16: Getting tired of...
