Creator: Nigel North | Lute music - 1987-09-01

    The Best Strings...

0 5/5 Uncle Meat (Southeastern PA, USA) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: D'Addario EXL170TP Nickel Wound Bass Guitar Strings, Light, 45-100, 2 Sets, Long Scale (Electronics) Simply put, these are the best strings at the lowest price. I've been playing electric bass for over 35 years and these are the brand I always come back to. I've tried Dr. Bass, Rotosounds, Fender, Markleys, etc. with no noticeable difference or improvement. D'Addarios sound great and last a long time. You can usually find them in multi-packs and/or on sale so it doesn't hurt to change them more often. This is one example where use don't get what you pay for, your get more! They come in many different lengths and gauges, so make sure you buy the correct set for your instrument. If you select a different gauge, don't forget that you may have to make adjustments to the intonation, string height, and/or neck relief on your bass or guitar. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , January 7, 2011

    Great Sound and Longevity.

0 5/5 TheBigC - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: D'Addario EXL165TP Nickel Wound Bass Guitar Strings, Custom Light, 45-105, 2 Sets, Long Scale (Electronics) I've been using D'Addario strings for ages. Both on my basses, and my guitars. These bass strings are comfortable enough to play, even on the longer 3 hour+ gigs. They sound nice and bright. But the main thing is they last a long time. They retain their tuning and sound for ages which is good news for the struggling muso. Plus, who wants to keep changing their strings all the time? Not me! I don't have a guitar tech like the stars do. Or the money!I have tried many different brands over the years but always come back toDÁddario for their great performance and longevity.Highly Recommended 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , February 17, 2012

0 4/5 jared m - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Ernie Ball 2832 Regular Slinky Nickel Wound Bass Set (50 - 105) (Electronics) Expect about 3 months of great play and sound. You can use them for about 2 more and get OK tone. I would recommend that you change them after 6 months. Sound even better with active pickups and a bass amplifier that accommodates active bass guitars. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , December 18, 2013

0 4/5 Steve Brown - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Ernie Ball 2832 Regular Slinky Nickel Wound Bass Set (50 - 105) (Electronics) Used to using 10-46 Regular Slinky strings on an electric guitar so expected a good quality from Ernie Ball strings for my son's bass. I wasn't disappointed. Gave them four stars instead of five simply to acknowledge that more expensive flat-wound strings play better than wire-wound. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , February 21, 2013

    Unbelievable Strings

I purchased a set of 4 for my bass in 1990. It was just a old Fender Pbass with stock pickups. The bass imediatly had a deeper sound and nicer feel. The strings rang longer and stayed in tune for outstanding periods of time. I had the medium-lights. Now for the pure comedy. The strings outlasted my bass. Yes that is right... the strings were still in good condition and still holding their tone for an entire gig in Jan 2006. 1 set of these lasted me 16years. My Pbass broke just beneath the neck in the body and I am finally going to give up the ghost and buy another set of strings for a bass... There is imediatly no doubt in my mind as to which set to buy. I went through 5 sets of strings in 3 years due to them shredding near joints and then these lasted me 16 YEARS... Value.. Sound... Tone... Tunning... I had bandmates tell me to replace my strings since they knew how old they were and then I would hand my bass over and say play.. then they would say.. um nevermind.. by God... 5/5 Mac75 "Cp" (Troy MI) - See all my reviews This review is from: Dean Markley Blue Steel 4-String ML 2674 Bass Guitar Strings (.045-.105) (Electronics) I purchased a set of 4 for my bass in 1990. Love these strings. Great price, great tone, and long lasting.

First off, I want to say that I am a finger player, I play in tunings from E standard to B standard but D standard mostly. I do not use a pick (may matter to the pick players considering these strings) and I have been playing bass for about 8 or 9 years and have tried a great variety of strings out there. D'addarios, GHS, DR, Rotosound, Dean Markley, so on and so forth. When I first started playing bass I wanted to try out a lot of strings just to find the perfect sound for me. I am a metal bass player mainly. I also play classic rock, blues, whatever. ANYWAYS, I recently bought a Schecter Stilleto Studio 5 bass. It came loaded with regular slinkys and I was super impressed. Before then I was a DR guy. They had awesome tone but didn't last as long as I needed. So I bought another pair of regular slinkys. Then I was starting to realize I wasn't getting a punchy high end on the regs. Also the "E" string was just a tad too.. I guess loose would be the word. You would think that... 5/5 metalupyourass - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) Power Slinkies

0 5/5 Krakissi - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Ernie Ball 2821 Power Slinky 5-String Nickel Wound Bass Set (50 - 135) (Electronics) I've tried everything from D'Addario to GHS, and even Elixir; nothing compares to the purple pack of Ernie Ball's. These strings are seriously heavy, and will help you achieve a really fat tone. Like the name implies, the Power Slinkies are -thick-, and all that extra meat makes it easy to pop and slap, or even throw in a couple power chords. If you wish your sound could be just a little heavier, these are the strings to get.Unlike the guitar version of Power Slinkies, which complicate bends and can make chords more difficult because of the smaller gap between strings and the increased pressure required to produce a good tone, these strings are fantastic for any style of bass playing. If you haven't tried them yet, even if you think you really like the strings you're using now, you should give these a shot the next time you replace your strings. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , May 16, 2012
