Love these strings. Great price, great tone, and long lasting.

First off, I want to say that I am a finger player, I play in tunings from E standard to B standard but D standard mostly. I do not use a pick (may matter to the pick players considering these strings) and I have been playing bass for about 8 or 9 years and have tried a great variety of strings out there. D'addarios, GHS, DR, Rotosound, Dean Markley, so on and so forth. When I first started playing bass I wanted to try out a lot of strings just to find the perfect sound for me. I am a metal bass player mainly. I also play classic rock, blues, whatever. ANYWAYS, I recently bought a Schecter Stilleto Studio 5 bass. It came loaded with regular slinkys and I was super impressed. Before then I was a DR guy. They had awesome tone but didn't last as long as I needed. So I bought another pair of regular slinkys. Then I was starting to realize I wasn't getting a punchy high end on the regs. Also the "E" string was just a tad too.. I guess loose would be the word. You would think that... 5/5 MMADD - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) Simply the Best

5/5 RoyStereo - See all my reviews This review is from: Ernie Ball Hybrid Slinky Nickel Wound Bass Set, .045 - .105 (Electronics) As i titled my review, this string set is as good as the expensive ones, plus it has that particular punchy, fat, clear sound that everyone loves. I am not only a bass player but also a string dealer. Because of this I had the opportunity to test a wide range of brands, materials, gauges, etc. Ernie ball have something that the other ones don't. Give you the opportunity to check it! 5/5 Kishore Mukherjee - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Fender 9050 Stainless Flatwound Bass Strings (Electronics) I absolutely love these strings. I'm used to playing higher tension strings and these fit the bill perfectly. They have a great full sound and after breaking them in after a couple weeks of playing they give a really good classic P bass sound. Its not for people who want the modern brighter sound but for the classic 50s 60s and 70s sound these are great! Great strings

5/5 Scott - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Fender 9050 Stainless Flatwound Bass Strings (Electronics) I have a 30 year old epiphone accubass that I love to play. Flat wound has always been my favorite because I can slide up and down the strings and get that "WOW" sound without the string noise. I always felt that the bright sound loss from flats could be compensated with the amp. These Fender strings are the brightest flats I have used and the sustain is much longer. For the "round wound" fans that want the "flats" ease to play TRY THESE. Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , May 9, 2014
from smoky jazzclubs to r&b venues, from reggae parties to countrymusic halls, 9050's have you covered.
Today, manyplayers use stainless steel flatwound 9050's to add adifferent character to their tonal palette.
The first electric basses were made byFender, andthose basses came with flatwound strings.
by the way, the stainless steel construction also givesyou longer life, and the flatwound construction reducesfinger noise.
Fender stainless steel flatwound 9050's are anexcellent choice for jazz, country, r & b and reggae.

Second to None, Best of the Best

Short version: These strings are incredible. Why haven't you bought them yet?Long version:Oh my goodness, wow. I absolutely love these strings. I even love how they have red cloth wrapping on the end of the string up by the headstock. The tone of these strings? To die for. These are the best bass strings I have ever used.Tone:Some words to describe the tone are as follows: biting, growling, aggressive, articulate, and bright. These strings were made for players who want to be heard, who want to cut through the mix. These strings have great low end, but that's not the impressive part. What's so impressive about these strings is that when a note is played, the combination of midrange and high harmonics give the tone a metallic, almost piano-like quality. Good for slap bass? Goodness yes.Versatility:These strings may be bright and audacious, but they can also be tamed by simply turning down the tone knob... 5/5 Adam Hilliard - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) Sounds like an angry German Shepherd playing a piano - and that's a good thing.

If you:- Are in a rock band that plays live shows- Want to be heard just as prominently as your guitar player with a half-dozen gain pedals and pre-amp on 11- Confident in your playing, and are not afraid of your audience hearing every single note, clear as a bell, good or bad- Already have callouses or are not afraid to build them- Feel no guilt when effectively punching everyone in the audience in the chest constantly throughout a set through your instrument...then these are the strings for you.If you are a serious bass player, then you should know that these really don't need an introduction (you know the pros that play(ed) them, such as Squire and Entwhistle who were not afraid to cut through the mix). If you haven't tried them at least once, you should, especially considering the competitive price (I'm really surprised that they don't cost quite a bit more, considering their quality, popularity, and the vast list of... 5/5 Amazon Customer - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) Bingo - We have a winner

5/5 Amazon Customer (Athens, AL United States) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Rotosound RS66LF Swing Bass 66 Stainless Steel Bass Guitar Strings (45 65 85 105) (Electronics) I'm just a rank amateur and an old geezer, but I've been looking for the right string to give me that traditional P bass tone, not too muddy or too bright. I've played flat wound strings for years, but lately my ears have heard their tone as muddy and when I tried turning my tone up on either the guitar or amp to get more clarity the G string would ring too bright, even when using foam at my bridge. So after reading reviews I decided to give these a try. Perfect tone and balance on all strings. After playing flats for so long I'm having to be more disciplined to avoid string squeak, but that's actually a good thing and my playing and technique have improved as a result. Getting the tone I want is certainly worth the effort. My old bass guitar never sounded better.Trying different strings to get the tone you want is far cheaper than buying a new bass. Great, All-Purpose Strings

5/5 Aaron Faletto (Renton, WA) - See all my reviews This review is from: GHS Strings Electric Bass Boomer Set (Medium Light Nickel Steel, 4-String, Long Scale) (Electronics) You can't go wrong with Boomers. They are bright but not harsh, and are consistent in manufacture, pack-to-pack. I've never been let down by these strings, for either my basses or my guitars. The red silk on these grips the machines well (and looks cool), and once they have been broken in they stay in tune. These strings are equally at home on a Precision or a Jazz. If you play a lot of mellow, upright-bass-style jazz, they might be a bit bright for you, but for 90% of what most people play, these strings deliver. If you are looking for good bass strings, and you are comparing lots of brands and don't really know which ones to get, try these. I've been playing guitar and bass for 25+ years and GHS Boomers are my favorite, by far. Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , January 29, 2010

    Great, Bright-sounding Bass Strings

5/5 Mike IronFist - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: GHS Strings Electric Bass Boomer Set (Medium Light Nickel Steel, 4-String, Long Scale) (Electronics) Ever since I was offered this brand when buying strings at a music shop, I've found them to be the best bass strings I've ever used. They have an extremely bright sound that resonates strongly and lasts a bit longer than others. If you play metal or punk rock, you'regoing to love how strong the sound is. If you play funk or do anything with slap bass as well, these will be an absolute godsend - theyare the best strings I've ever used for slapping and popping.Of course, these are round-wounds. Round-wound strings are bright in general, so if you're looking for a more mellow tone or you don't want to build up the callouses to play these strings, you're going to want flat-wound strings instead.
