They might sound great on your Ukulele, but on mine...not so much

3/5 J.R. - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Martin M620 Ukulele Strings Fluorocarbon, Tenor (Electronics) Keep in mind, I tried these strings on my laminated ukulele. This is the first time trying Martin's Uke strings. I have always been happy with their guitar strings. I've used Aquila Nylguts on my ukes in the past & wanted to try something different so I ordered up these strings. The strings took 3 weeks to finally stop stretching. I don't care for the tone of these strings on my uke. Compared to the Aquilas, these sound thin and less robust. As I mentioned earlier this was on my laminated uke, they may sound completely different on a solid wood ukulele. Every acoustic instrument is built differently and what works on one might not work on another. Works for my uke

4/5 wiseshopper (Madison, WI, USA) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Martin M620 Ukulele Strings Fluorocarbon, Tenor (Electronics) Glad I installed these strings on my tenor uke. They are thinner, easier to compress and have a sharper more pleasant sound. Be aware these are only strings with no metal washers on the end like the strings I replaced. My uke holds the end of each string using a peg so I needed to thread each string through bead inside of the uke so it would not come out when tightened. Wow.

5/5 Nathan - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: D'Addario EJ99TLG Pro-Arté Carbon Ukulele Strings, Tenor Low G (Electronics) I took a chance on these without finding a good recorded example of their sound, and I'm so glad I did. I put them on my Kala PWT as soon as they arrived and they blow the old Aquilas out of the water. The tone is even, full, and simultaneously warm and bright. The tension is low and the strings are soft, so playing is a breeze. And the sustain is out of this world. The strings are completely transparent which allow them to blend into any color uke, and I'm no longer wishing I had gotten black ones. These class up the dark colors of the pacific walnut of my uke with an almost glass appearance.I was worried that these would make my uke sound too much like a toy (I wasn't sure what they meant by its placement on the "bright" end of their "warm - bright" scale), but they make it hum like a beautiful classical guitar. These strings with the Low G tuning matures my ukulele into a serious instrument that I can't stop playing; I can't recommend them any higher. I have found the perfect strings

5/5 Christopher - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: D'Addario EJ99TLG Pro-Arté Carbon Ukulele Strings, Tenor Low G (Electronics) I have tried almost every string set for my tenor uke (at least 7 other types), and these are by far the best. None of the Aquila strings even come close to this set. These strings are very high quality and make the instrument project sound like never before. I can honestly say that I will not be using any other strings on my uke anymore, I have found the perfect set for my instrument. I was a bit worried that the tension on these would be very high to achieve the bright tone, but to my surprise they feel perfect. The titanium strings are much harder to play on. Not for me - I'm staying with Aquila Red Series strings!

1/5 Kayakbob - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: D'Addario EJ99TLG Pro-Arté Carbon Ukulele Strings, Tenor Low G (Electronics) I have been using Aquila Red series on my tenor uke for the last 2 years, and though I have been pleased with their performance, thought I'd try something different. Big mistake! The D'Addario Pro-Arte's dramatically reduced the sound and projection - it was as if the sound was muffled. I tried them for three days, thinking that they would 'break in', or that I would get used to them. Didn't work! These are also an extremely 'stretchy' string - I was constantly having to make major tuning adjustments, sometimes every 10 minutes when playing. I had a fresh set of reds, installed them, and I had my instrument back again. I'm staying with the Aquila Red series (unwound)! D'ADDARIO DOES SO MAKE A GOOD UKULELE STRING!!!!!

I HAVE USED D'ADDARIO BLACK UKULELE STRINGS BEFORE,& THEY WOULD STAY ON FOR ABOUT A DAY BECAUSE I THINK THEY SOUND SO TERRIBLE. BUT THE "BLACK NYLON" WITH A WOUND 3rd. STRING, BLOWS ME AWAY. I AM SO IMPRESSED WITH THESE STRINGS, IM PROABLY GOING TO GET A FEW MORE SETS. THEY SOUND SO BRIGHT COMPARED TO THE OTHER STYLES OF "BLACK" UKULELE STRINGS BY D'ADDARIO,THE DIFFERENCE IS INCREDIBLE! THEY SOUND JUST AS BRIGHT AS ANY "AQUILA" STRING(with the exception of the red series,if you use them and they dont saw into your bridge. if you use reds look at your bridge to see if they have cut into it like a little saw)OUT THERE. I PUT THESE "HAWIIAN TENOR" STRINGS ON A "CONCERT" UKULELE,AND IT SOUNDS KILLER,I ALSO RECCOMEND GETTING THE BLACK & NOW WHITE "DIAMOND STRING TIES" SO YOU DONT HAVE TO HASSLE WITH TYING YOUR STRINGS,ESPECIALLY IF YOU USE A WRAPPED STRING. THE TIES MAKE EVERYTHING EASIER & SOUND ALOT MOR CRISP & BRIGHT!!!!!ALSO... 5/5 chrisS. (in a house in utah.) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) Amazing Sound Improvement!

I just finished installing my new strings, and I'm in love! I wasn't sure what strings to get at first. People insisted I go with the Aquila, but after doing more research on my own I stumbled upon a video that shows what strings Jake Shimabukuro uses. He uses classical guitar strings with hyper tension. Luckily, D'Addario Pro Arte does all the work for me and chose which guitar strings I needed that fits my concert ukulele. When you get the package it has the cover just like in the product picture, but inside the packet it will say classical guitar strings. That's how it's supposed to be. I believe the first review didn't do his homework before making his purchase. You're suppose to use the classical guitar string E for G and A on your ukulele. Then use B for your E string, and use G for your C string. There is a big improvement with the sound. I really thought there wouldn't be, but I'm just blown away. I may try the Aquila string down the road, but right now... 5/5 Eva - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) These are pretty good flourocarbon strings

5/5 Amazon Customer - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: D'Addario EJ99T Pro-Arté Carbon Ukulele Strings, Tenor (Electronics) These are pretty good flourocarbon strings, and the low G comes unwound. They're pretty clear with a long sustain. They feel like a thicker Worth clear that are easier to find. If you're uke likes a little bit higher tension/thicker than oasis/worth, you should check them out. They're not as tight as Martin 620's and thinner than pro-arte's.
