  Nice Violin - "so-so" customer service

  This violin was very nice for the price. However, it came missing a fine tuning screw and it took a couple of weeks of emailing the maufacturer to get resolution. WIthout it, I would have had to either send it back or have it repaired locally at a cost of about $25 - a lot when the item only cost $69.00! 3/5 T.   I purchased this bow for my 9 year old daughter who has been playing for about 1 1/2 years. I looked locally and they were 4 times the price. I took a chance on this one, with the price, what did I have to loose. we received the bow very quickly and packaged great. My daughter took it to her lesson that week and the instructor (she has played professionally for 20 years, studied fiddle in Ireland) was very impressed with the quality of the bow.   Good Shoulder Rest

  I bought this for my 10yr old daughter just getting into violin lessons.I initially bought the Resonans shoulder rest which was just terrible. I bought that one because it was cheap and it was the one that was at our local music store.The Kun one was the one our violin instructor uses so I bought it from Amazon. My daughter finds this one very comfortable. The grips that hold to the violin have a nice rubber to prevent scratches. The curved design and the foam add to the comfort. The best part is that its height adjustable by "unscrewing" the grips some.I would highly recommend this one vs. the Resonans branded one. 5/5 Pitter S.   Used the complete set on my daughter's violin. After she waxed it, the sounds was as good as it gets for her 3/4 size violin.   Lets face it, fractional sized violins are usually for students who will out grow them. Student violins usually come with a foam wedge of some type that do not adequately support or add comfort. This item is reasonalbly priced, adjustable and comfortable for my son.Why pay some music stores outragious prices for similar items? The ones I see are of similar quality, but more fussy to install and adjust.When I showed this model to my local music store (and explained I didn't want to pay $30+ for a "nicer shoulder rest") they imeadiately were curious and wanted to know where I got it for under $20. They wanted the brand as well. Bet they will be stocking these too, but I doubt they will have the amazon price!My son loves it, and it works well.   Great bargain compared to Kuhn

  Kuhn has long been the industry standard in shoulder rests for violin and viola students. While these rests leave a few things to be desired (the foam has a tendency to wear down or start to rip a little sooner than the Kuhn, and they are a bit more tedious to adjust) that has not stopped me from stocking them for my school. If you have a very serious student or are a very serious player and you can afford the Kuhn, they are probably they way to go.   Cecilio - Mendini Blue 1/2 size violin

  I bought this blue 1/2 size violin for my 9 year old daughter as she out grew her 1/4 size violin (pink colored one). Once again was not disappointed with the Cecilio product. I could have bought a regular wood finished violin at a higher cost, but figured that she'll only use this one for a year before moving up to the next size violin and may as well keep it fun for her as she is the only one in her orchestra with a non standard wood finished violin and she love to play this instrument. Once again, remarkably for the price (about $50)this instrument has pretty decent tone. What keeps me from giving this a 5 star rating is that it was a bit of a chore setting up the bridge initially. But after getting it tuned for the first time, then the fine tuning by her violin teacher, it really has decent tone.   Unusable

  Bought this for my daughter in December. She started violin lessons in March and t he violin would just not hold the tuning. The pegs keep slipping and so the violin is basically unusable. One Luthier said that it needs extensive repairs ($225) to get it usable while t he music store where she takes here lessons said that they would replace the pegs for $85.Basically this violin is unusable!!!!
