Great Quality Instrument!!

I have been playing violin for three years now and I felt it was time to take the plunge into the electric violin world. I was also looking for something relatively inexpensive since my main violin is on the higher end. This was the perfect choice.Sound - Try as it might, it just can't replicate the sound of an acoustic violin (which I wasn't looking for anyway). It can get pretty close though and all in all the sound is nice. The pickup is good, not the best quality but it does its job pretty well. As for being silent, it is quieter than an acoustic with a mute, but not completely silent.Construction/Look - The body is nice and solid unlike some of the cheap online instruments you can get. The finish is well done and the ebony pieces with mother of pearl inlays look rather nice. The inlays fall flush too, nothing sticking out at all. The pegs don't slip at all. The only thing I could find wrong with the construction was the bridge. It was a bit too high but... 5/5 Mike - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) Perfect Violin for Me!

So, I haven't played the violin since grade school. And I rent a room in a house, so I was wanted a violin that would be quiet. So, I choose this one... Alas, it's not really "quiet" or silent (even with a mute). Its "quieter" than an acoustic. But still, due to the vibrations, it still gives off its own sound.I was looking for a inexpensive violin. But the other ones I checked out, looked like crap. They had a plastic body, which I am not into.I love the fact that this Cecilio has a wooden body with the mother of earl details. It actually looks much nicer in person, than the pictures. Smells great too (but then I love the smell of fresh cute wood and rosin... call me crazy). And the sound is great (to me anyways, as a beginner). And since it is new, I know that in a few years the sound will mature. (hence another reason I wanted a violin with a wooden body, not plastic).Buying this violin was a big step for me. Since, Electric violins are... 5/5 Latoya M Michel (Seattle, WA United States) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) Totally AMAZING! But I have a question about the bridge...

I love this violin so much, it sounds great and looks great. I'm not rating the bow. It's a typical cheap bow but it works just fine. My only issue with this thing has to do with the bridge. It is so oddly shaped... It slants upward, making the G string MUCH higher than the E. What I'm used to is a perfect arch for a bridge. The G and E are even, and the D and A are even, both slightly higher than the G and E. From what I understand, this gives a better ability to switch strings. I believe it. My acoustic violin is very easily played, perfect arch, and I love it. This electric I love also, but it's sooo hard not to hit the G string while playing the D, It just feels weird. I'm either gonna shave it down or have it replaced. Bridges only costs a few bucks, that's why I'm giving this instrument a 5 star. I do wonder though if there are any advantages to this Bridge design? Thanks in advance. As for the rest of it, totally amazing!!! It's surprising, the headphones feel really... 5/5 Jessica Hurd "Jessica Hurd" - See all my reviews, January 4, 2011

I've fallen in love with the violin all over again.

I've been playing the violin for almost nine years now, and I thought this would be a good present to myself for the amount of time I've spent on one thing, and I also got this because I've always wondered what it would be like to play an electric violin. I have a lot to say so I'll just lay it out into pros and cons (:Pros:-It's just like playing an electric guitar, but it's a violin. You can use all the amps and distorters you want, and it sounds absolutely awesome.-For the price, this is an excellent instrument. The strings are brand new, the finish on the violin is beautiful (I got mine in black metallic), and it has a great tone.-It's very lightweight. It and the case together weigh less than holding my oboe (whilst cased).-I received it within four-five days of buying it.-The case was much better than I expected. It's actually a hard case (I couldn't tell from the picture) and has a pocket for storing things on top of it and a... 5/5 Adriane Baklava - See all my reviews This review is from: Cecilio 4/4 CEVN-1NA Solid Wood Mahogany Metallic Electric / Silent Violin with Ebony Fittings in Style 1 (Full Size) (Electronics) I've been playing the violin for almost nine years now, and I thought this would be a good present to myself for the amount of time I've spent on one thing, and I also got this because I've always wondered what it would be like to play an electric violin. A great deal, despite shortcomings

First off, I'm not a professional violinist, but I have played the instrument for a number of years. Also, I've only had this instrument for a little less than a week... but I WILL keep updating this review as time goes on. Finally, I ordered this off Amazon. I cannot speak to the products received from another company. My bottom Line: To purchase this instrument at such a low price is a fantastic deal. Growing up, playing the violin, it was hard if not impossible to find a quality instrument at such a low price (I spent $125 on this instrument). Of course, this package does have some flaws. Below is an in-depth review, so let's get down to it.THE INSTRUMENTPros:- This is a solid-body electric violin, meaning no feedback!!- The instrument has a sturdy, strong feel.- The bridge, tailpiece, & chin-rest are fantastic (no issues).- The pegs were not broken or damaged in any way.- Contains three perfectly fine 1/8" jacks (Line Out,... 4/5 skimask_review - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) Awesome violin for quiet practice!!!!

While I read others reviews, I don't usually write reviews myself because I'm bad....But this time I decided to do it and I'm repenting. I haven't been so excited about a purchase in a long, long time, not even when I got my first iPhone or the retina mac, and I got to say that I love these things and I'm fanatic about.First if you don't know anything about violins or never played one, don't review this violin, or go take lessons and try play some violins in a brick and mortar place first.I'm professional and I've been playing violin for 23 years, not to brag about myself but to give credibility to this review. The violin comes with a light nice case, bow, rosin, headphones, battery and cable all for $129 on the other big auction website. That's insane!!! Now the headphones and the bow kind of suck but who doesn't have a pair or two of more expensive headphones laying around? The bow is a little heavy and cheap but for a beginner or intermediate... 5/5 ghkgjh29752 (US) - See all my reviews This review is from: Cecilio 4/4 CEVN-1BK Solid Wood Electric/Silent Violin with Ebony Fittings in Style 1 - Full Size - Black Metallic (Electronics) While I read others reviews, I don't usually write reviews myself because I'm bad....But this time I decided to do it and I'm repenting. Broken Bow

0 2/5 Katlyn - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: ViolinSmart Solid Wood Electric Silent Violin - White Would have been a great violin (I think) if the bow hadn't been broken. Also seemed like it was a really flimsy bow, I'm guessed that's why it's split in two. Not sure. Will be trying this again. This was going to be a present for my significant other (his birthday is in two days) but of course I have to return it and try again... Fingers crossed for good service this time. just awful

0 1/5 Nick G - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Crescent EV-BU Full Size 4/4 Electric Violin Starter Kit, Blue (Includes CrescentTM Digital E-Tuner) Absolutely terrible quality. Rosin was awful, does not produce sound unless strings are plucked, bridge is just bad. Tuning pegs are unusable. it might sound like I'm exaggerating but I'm not, I seriously thought that this would be a low quality budget starter violin, but it doesn't even approach being that good. save your money and buy something else any other brand.but I will say the included tuner, cable and headphones are pretty decent as well as the soft case. I don't feel totally ripped off for the 50 something dollars only for that reason. The violin is garbage/accessories decent but not likely worth the price paid. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews Was this review helpful to you? , February 7, 2015

    Lies! Not worth your time!

This review is from: Crescent EV-BU Full Size 4/4 Electric Violin Starter Kit, Blue (Includes CrescentTM Digital E-Tuner) So I was feeling iffy on whether or not to buy this. I ended up purchasing it, and now I regret it. The pegs are plastic, not ebony. The bow is probably made with plastic horse hair. I had to cut the bridge to make its size fit better. The pegs won't stay tuned. And while tuning, I've broken two strings so far!The only plus side to this purchase was the accessories. They're decent (really like the tuner, though).Through much revision, the violin will hopefully function properly. If not, I'm definitely going to want a refund and some gift as an apology for this rip-off! 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews Was this review helpful to you? , February 20, 2015

    It's Alright...

0 3/5 Beatrice Larson - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: ViolinSmart EV20 Electric Violin (4/4 Full Size, Color: Blue) The body its self is pretty nice and durable, made of thick plastic. Although the strings were pretty low grade. But most importantly the bridge that came with it is way too high, making the strings sit higher than usual -- which is pretty uncomfortable. After a few hours of playing it I realized that the paint on the fingerboard started to rub off onto my fingers. The chin rest is a bitt out of place, too close to the tail piece, making your neck hurt. I prefer a shoulder rest when playing and I was very disappointed when my shoulder rest for my acoustic violin wouldn't stay on the electric one. I wish they made a custom shoulder rest, I would totally buy it. The pegs are extremely hard to keep in place (peg drops are an easy fix). Again, strings are pretty bad. I snapped the A string while tuning it the first time. But on a lighter note, it is a pretty good violin. But you get what you pay for... 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews Was this review helpful to you? , January 19, 2014
