I've fallen in love with the violin all over again.

I've been playing the violin for almost nine years now, and I thought this would be a good present to myself for the amount of time I've spent on one thing, and I also got this because I've always wondered what it would be like to play an electric violin. I have a lot to say so I'll just lay it out into pros and cons (:Pros:-It's just like playing an electric guitar, but it's a violin. You can use all the amps and distorters you want, and it sounds absolutely awesome.-For the price, this is an excellent instrument. The strings are brand new, the finish on the violin is beautiful (I got mine in black metallic), and it has a great tone.-It's very lightweight. It and the case together weigh less than holding my oboe (whilst cased).-I received it within four-five days of buying it.-The case was much better than I expected. It's actually a hard case (I couldn't tell from the picture) and has a pocket for storing things on top of it and a... 5/5 Adriane Baklava - See all my reviews This review is from: Cecilio 4/4 CEVN-1NA Solid Wood Mahogany Metallic Electric / Silent Violin with Ebony Fittings in Style 1 (Full Size) (Electronics) I've been playing the violin for almost nine years now, and I thought this would be a good present to myself for the amount of time I've spent on one thing, and I also got this because I've always wondered what it would be like to play an electric violin. A great deal, despite shortcomings

First off, I'm not a professional violinist, but I have played the instrument for a number of years. Also, I've only had this instrument for a little less than a week... but I WILL keep updating this review as time goes on. Finally, I ordered this off Amazon. I cannot speak to the products received from another company. My bottom Line: To purchase this instrument at such a low price is a fantastic deal. Growing up, playing the violin, it was hard if not impossible to find a quality instrument at such a low price (I spent $125 on this instrument). Of course, this package does have some flaws. Below is an in-depth review, so let's get down to it.THE INSTRUMENTPros:- This is a solid-body electric violin, meaning no feedback!!- The instrument has a sturdy, strong feel.- The bridge, tailpiece, & chin-rest are fantastic (no issues).- The pegs were not broken or damaged in any way.- Contains three perfectly fine 1/8" jacks (Line Out,... 4/5 skimask_review - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) Awesome violin for quiet practice!!!!

While I read others reviews, I don't usually write reviews myself because I'm bad....But this time I decided to do it and I'm repenting. I haven't been so excited about a purchase in a long, long time, not even when I got my first iPhone or the retina mac, and I got to say that I love these things and I'm fanatic about.First if you don't know anything about violins or never played one, don't review this violin, or go take lessons and try play some violins in a brick and mortar place first.I'm professional and I've been playing violin for 23 years, not to brag about myself but to give credibility to this review. The violin comes with a light nice case, bow, rosin, headphones, battery and cable all for $129 on the other big auction website. That's insane!!! Now the headphones and the bow kind of suck but who doesn't have a pair or two of more expensive headphones laying around? The bow is a little heavy and cheap but for a beginner or intermediate... 5/5 ghkgjh29752 (US) - See all my reviews This review is from: Cecilio 4/4 CEVN-1BK Solid Wood Electric/Silent Violin with Ebony Fittings in Style 1 - Full Size - Black Metallic (Electronics) While I read others reviews, I don't usually write reviews myself because I'm bad....But this time I decided to do it and I'm repenting. Great Silent Violin

0 5/5 F. - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Yamaha SV-130 Concert Select Silent Electric Black 4/4 Violin This violin is great. Easy to tune. Holds a good tune. Sounds great. The bose system I added is a plus. Hits the high notes warmly.WARNING. The violin does not come with strings, violin case, bow, etc. The picture is deceiving. You have to set up the bridge and string in the strings that you must buy separately. Beginner's may have trouble doing this. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews Was this review helpful to you? , November 5, 2012

    QUALITY AND SOUND

0 5/5 Cali gadget guy "Cali Gadget Guy" (Southern California) - See all my reviews This review is from: Yamaha SV-130 Concert Select Silent Electric Black 4/4 Violin I choose the SV-130 because you do not need a separate power unit to play it. Just plug it into an amp or sound system with any 1/4" instrument cable. The workmanship is Yamaha quality. The action was high so I made a new bridge for it. The reverbs are not over powering. I put Daddario Preludes on it. The ebony tuning pegs work nice and hold tune. It would be nice to be able to use any shoulder rest on it but the one for it works fine. The sound of course is not acoustic but it is nice. For quiet practice it is just that. It comes with ear buds and you can plug an MP3 player into it to play along to songs with. Mine did come from the dealer with the bridge in place. I would think anyone buying this price violin knows how to stand up a bridge and tune it. Violin cases are plentiful everywhere. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews Was this review helpful to you? , March 4, 2014

    Good and comfortable mute

0 5/5 Boruta Di Lira (NJ, US) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Glaesel Violin Ultra Practice Mute I am a beginner, and this mute seems to do a fine job in decreasing the volume of my mistakes :) It is very easy to use. The material is firm but very soft so I do not have to worry about damaging the bridge ( I was a bit apprehensive about using a nickel or gold plated mute). The mute fits very well on a 4/4 violin and does will not fall off even if you shake the instrument upside down (not sure why anyone would but isn't it nice to know?). Since it seems over-sized I am sure it would fit on any smaller violin as well.I only wish it would mute to an even lower volume. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews Was this review helpful to you? , March 19, 2007

    Nice!

0 5/5 Amazon Customer "Forever Learning New Things" (Virginia Beach, VA United States) - See all my reviews This review is from: Glaesel Violin Ultra Practice Mute This mute works great! It cuts the loudness down by well over half. My husband said he could barely hear me in the next room. Perfect for practicing, late night playing, or people that live with room mates or in apartments. Easy to put on and take off. The rubber won't hurt your violin, bridge or strings. I love it! 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews Was this review helpful to you? , January 4, 2008

0 5/5 Alexander C. - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Yamaha SV-130 Concert Select Silent Electric Candy Apple Red 4/4 Violin I have several years studying violin. I bought this yamaha SV-130 and the sound is amazing. It has a beautiful design, good sound and is very versatile. I have another acoustic violin the Cremona 1260, it is an excellent violin. But when I compared the sound in D string between 2 violins, in the yamaha violin it sounds a little different. But in general this is a good instrument. I bought that I hope, a very good electrical violin. The case, bow and violin arrived in exclt conditions. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews Was this review helpful to you? , December 30, 2011

    Great violin!

0 5/5 Christina - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Stagg EVN 4/4 MRD Silent Violin Set with Case - Metallic Red (Electronics) One of the strings had become bent during transit and the bridge had come loose but it's easily fixable and sounds great! The strings sit a bit higher than I'm used to, maybe because the bridge sits in a holder rather than right on the violin but I can probably have someone sand it down a bit if I need to. This is my first electric violin and I am well pleased with it! 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews Was this review helpful to you? , January 13, 2012

    Fun starter violin.

I bought this violin six months ago just to see if I could learn to play, never touched a violin before and I'm almost 45 yrs old. The sound is good but not great. Putting it though a guitar affects box (cost almost as much as the violin!) helps a lot, you can really tweak the sound to whatever you want. I have actually learned to play, only lessons being online youtube lessons and student study books. You can really learn to play and have fun at home with this one. I changed to 'better' strings but I can't tell a difference, save your money for your next violin. I bought a 15W practice amp, wish I'd gotten one a little bigger but it is ok. I also like that you can plug in headphones and practice in 'silent' mode. My only complaint is that the electronic module is pretty cheap and the headphone jack is now intermittant and takes some fiddling to get it to work now but a minor fault. Also, buy a cheap tuner so you can get it tuned correctly. If it is out of tune even slightly... 4/5 Tony Stevens (PA, USA) - See all my reviews This review is from: Cecilio 4/4CEVN-4BK Solid Wood Black Metallic Electric/Silent Violin with Ebony Fittings in Style 4 (Full Size) (Electronics) I bought this violin six months ago just to see if I could learn to play, never touched a violin before and I'm almost 45 yrs old. Nice violin

0 5/5 James M. Pearce "James" (Wisconsin) - See all my reviews, January 22, 2011

Nice fiddle, but electronics and bow are junk

The violin is okay; not the greatest tone, but plays fine. Very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the peg work, though the bridge is probably too thick and needs to be lowered unless you like the action really high. Replacing the low quality strings would also be advisable. There was a slight cosmetic blemish on the finish, but entirely acceptable in my opinion. The bow that came with the violin is warped beyond playability and would cost hundreds of dollars to straighten, so putting it in the trash is the best option. The major problem is the output jacks, which only function intermittently. It's very annoying when you're playing and then all of a sudden there's no sound. Extraneous clicks and pops were improved by using a well shielded monster cable, but that didn't solve the drop out problem from the main output.I really like the look and feel of this particular model and wish the electronics could be upgraded. Am checking around to see if... 2/5 janie - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?)
