    Much better than I expected

I wrote this review for the person who knows nothing about violins at all:This violin is of much higher quality than I ever imagined. It is not, of course, even a good violin by professional standards, but it is a very solid beginner's instrument. I bought it for myself, though I am not a violinist, but I have been playing guitar, bass, and keys for more than six years, and I have played violins before. My ex-girlfriend lent me her first violin when we were dating, and it was really, really horrible. This one is pretty close to her current violin, which was a pretty decent student model. I did a lot of research before buying this one, and I'm really glad I did. It is rated highly by violin teachers and other violinists, but very lowly by people who have no idea what they are talking about. I have read that a lot of violins under $100 don't even have a sound post, which is a crucial part of the violin and absolutely cannot be discarded. You're almost better off with a... 5/5 Zachary Buser - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Great quality/price ratio!

Great violin? No. As nice as the ones the music stores rent for $25 a month, yes. Comes with tons of accessories that would cost you $30-40.As a violin teacher, I like to have these on hand for cheap entry level instruments, or rent for $10/month. That way a student doesn't have to get into a year contract at a local music store if they aren't sure if they want to stick with it or not.A great way to get started on the violin for VERY little money. After owning this violin for a year or so, the student can decide to invest in a nicer one, and pass this along to a sibling/friend/Craigslist.Only disclaimer is: make sure you have someone who can setup a violin for you (the case with all violins, regardless of quality). They are NOT instruments that can be played right out of the box, and if you have a store do this for you, it's probably a $30-45 fee. Find a violin playing friend that will do it for free for you :) 5/5 Captain Cadabra - See all my reviews This review is from: Mendini 4/4 MV300 Solid Wood Violin in Satin Finish with Hard Case, Shoulder Rest, Bow, Rosin and Extra Strings - Full Size (Electronics) Great violin? Amazing for $59

My granddaughters started learning on some child-sized versions of this violin. I play a little piano and clarinet and couldn't resist trying out their violins. I had so much fun with them that I decided to order a full size version. How could you go wrong for $59? Well I don't think you can. My copy (the body) is nicely made. True the fingerboard appears to be painted wood rather than ebony and true the fine tune adjusters don't work extremely well and true that the bridge (both of them that came with the kit) folded nearly in half when the violin was tuned but all that aside, this violin sounds very nice to my untrained ear and for a beginner is easy to play in terms of finger action on the strings. I've read complaints about problems with tuning and pegs slipping. I had that problem with the violin too at first. However, now after two weeks of use the violin's strings have stretched and for the past few days i can pull it out of its case without needing to do a complete... 3/5 Terry D. A Bargain for the price

If your just starting violin this is a good beginner instrumentPrice: Paid $99. That's the low end of beginner violin pricesValue: Every bit as good violins going for twice the price. The accessories alone are worth the price of it.Acessories: Metronome, tuner, shoulder rest, 2 bows, rosin, book and CD, Case, strings, xtra bridgeQuality: The violin has no detracting defects. The appearance is good. The bows are ample to take you well into your first year of violin and maybe more. finish is very good. Pegs hold tune, fine tuners work well.Bridge and action came out of the box very good. Could use better strings- when your playing gets better. Rosing worked very good.Sound: Has good bass and not too tinny higher sound. It sounds good. Not like a toy. Great Value

I am very pleased with this violin. I have played for over 40 years, but had to sell my violin several years ago due to ill health. Now that my health is improving, I am ready to start playing again but can't afford an expensive instrument. I ordered this one because it had a 5-star rating. I had to move the bridge, and the cake of rosin that came with it is totally worthless, but these are very minor issues. The wire wrap on one of the bows is coming loose already, that to me is also a minor issue, I will just put some electrician's tape over it. This violin sounds good, stays in tune, is pretty to look at, and was economical to purchase. 5/5 nkl1956 (Billings, MT) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Perfect, NO. But not as bad as some would have you believe.

Is this a professional level vioin? NO. Will it ever sould like a professional level instrument? No.I bought this because my daughter wanted a purple violin. All the local music stores and music teachers when I asked frowned apon these cheap, colored violins. Saying they were not worth the money or time. THEY ARE WRONG.I watched a Youtube video review of this brand by a guy named Fiddler Man. What I saw was amazing. So I took a chance. I couldn't be happier. My daughter is an advanced player in high school, having made the top level orchestra her freshman year. I bought her an intermeadiate Yamaha violin when she started 6 years ago in the 5th grade. (I was lucky she fit a full sized instrument) She loves her Yamaha, and I quite like the sound of it as well. She wanted a "practice" violin, hence this purple one. The Cecilio violin sounds slightly different (expected since its not a yamaha, all brands sound just a bit different,... 5/5 R. Broderick "broderp" (OHIO) - See all my reviews, January 20, 2013

Body of the violin is good, color is very nice

I bought this item for my 10 year old daughter. The price was great. The body of the violin is very good, not sure about the strings but that is very easy and inexpensive to replace. The case is good and has a very nice silver covering in the inside. We really liked this item. 4/5 Vielka Melendez - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Great first time violin

My 12 year old daughter wanted a violin just out of the blue. Violins can be very expensive, yet being able to purchase a new one with colors to choose from for a fickle 12 year old girl at this price was an easy decision. The package came quick with everything expected, and the violin was not cheaply made. Yes if she ever learns to play, most likely she'll gravitate to one that will cost more, but for the money every parent can afford to by their kids an instrument to keep them interested in music and learning to play. 5/5 Randy The Painter - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Not quite worth the price, but still good. It'd be a better deal if it was $10-20 cheaper.

Okay... where to start.... Mainly I'm giving the accessories 2 stars... the violin itself, compared to other starter violins, isn't bad. It's got like 4-5 stars. It's got a low score b/c I have to replace parts in order to play. If the strings were slightly more durable, it'd have 4 stars, no doubt.:::NOTE:::Walking into this I knew it was meant to be a starter violin and wasn't expecting high quality by any means. I just wanted to get one to see if I had a knack for it, and to have one to goof around on. I expected the strings to be crap, however I expected them to last me through a few sessions. I was expecting to have to buy new rosin, so I bought some super sensitive light rosin in advance. I also expected to need to buy a better bow & shoulder rest in a few months.PROS:The sound post (the dowel rod inside the violin itself) was in place, and wasn't rolling around. The bridge was easy to put on.It wasn't too difficult to tune the... 2/5 Corenaccio - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Mendini MV200 3/4 Violin

I up graded the string, set the bridge, use some peg drops and this violin sounds great, looks great. The bow, shoulder rest is good and the case great. Very nice and will be used by my granddaughter. I actually enjoy playing it. :>)For $58.00 it was a very good deal. The upgraded strings were $30.00 plus updated the tail piece for $18.00 to hold the higher tension of the strings. So for $116.00 we have a very nice sounding violin. The chinrest is good, the pegs work well. Very pleased. No one should buy an inexpensive Chinese violin without upgrading the strings and possible the tailpiece but after that they generally sound as good or if not better than violin 3 -4 time more money. 4/5 NJ - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Great Quality Instrument!!

I have been playing violin for three years now and I felt it was time to take the plunge into the electric violin world. I was also looking for something relatively inexpensive since my main violin is on the higher end. This was the perfect choice.Sound - Try as it might, it just can't replicate the sound of an acoustic violin (which I wasn't looking for anyway). It can get pretty close though and all in all the sound is nice. The pickup is good, not the best quality but it does its job pretty well. As for being silent, it is quieter than an acoustic with a mute, but not completely silent.Construction/Look - The body is nice and solid unlike some of the cheap online instruments you can get. The finish is well done and the ebony pieces with mother of pearl inlays look rather nice. The inlays fall flush too, nothing sticking out at all. The pegs don't slip at all. The only thing I could find wrong with the construction was the bridge. It was a bit too high but... 5/5 Mike - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Totally AMAZING! But I have a question about the bridge...

I love this violin so much, it sounds great and looks great. I'm not rating the bow. It's a typical cheap bow but it works just fine. My only issue with this thing has to do with the bridge. It is so oddly shaped... It slants upward, making the G string MUCH higher than the E. What I'm used to is a perfect arch for a bridge. The G and E are even, and the D and A are even, both slightly higher than the G and E. From what I understand, this gives a better ability to switch strings. I believe it. My acoustic violin is very easily played, perfect arch, and I love it. This electric I love also, but it's sooo hard not to hit the G string while playing the D, It just feels weird. I'm either gonna shave it down or have it replaced. Bridges only costs a few bucks, that's why I'm giving this instrument a 5 star. I do wonder though if there are any advantages to this Bridge design? Thanks in advance. As for the rest of it, totally amazing!!! It's surprising, the headphones feel really... 5/5 Jessica Hurd "Jessica Hurd" - See all my reviews, January 4, 2011

    A high quality music instrument.

This violin was my birthday gift. The color is great, and the quality of the voice is awesome! I have been playing Violin, guitar and one other traditional music instrument called Santoor since many years ago. This violin is one of my bests. I plugged it into my guitar mixer and it sounds well. Even if you don't have a mixer or an AMP, don't worry. The violin by itself has a very loud and clear voice. The price used to be around $400 (according to amazon!) but now you can get it for less than $180 (140 + shipping and etc). I also ordered a Violin Shoulder Rest for about $15.00 so that let me play professionally. You cannot easily find a good quality violin electric like this in the market with this range price.Overall, I am happy with it, Thank God. 5/5 Pouria - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Cecilio 4/4 CEVN-2NA Solid Wood Mahogany Metallic Electric / Silent Violin with Ebony Fittings in Style 2 (Full Size) (Electronics) This violin was my birthday gift. Great violin for the money

I used to play violin 20 years ago. I wanted something to play around on. Was a little wary of something so "cheap" price wise. When I received my violin I was pleasently supprised. I think the quality of this product is equivelant to one that you would pay 200-300 dollars for. Very nice. Can't go wrong. Would highly recommend. 5/5 Freddie Thronson - See all my reviews, April 24, 2006

    It's Electrifyin'!

As a more classical violinist, I have always played on an accoustic. Recently, I have been doing more "band" and "rock" performances, so I decided to invest in an electric. This is a great violin, not stellar enough for recording probably but good enough for fun stage shows. The unique body style attracts lots of attention from audience members and the ability to use it as a practice violin while my daughter is sleeping (you can still hear it when "un-plugged", just very soft) has been an added bonus. As for quality of sound, well, I guess I'm just spoiled to the nice robust tone of my accoustic. Maybe with more amplifier experience, I may be able to achieve a better quality?!? This violin does come with a terrific soft case, all the cords needed, a set of headphones and a bow. I will note that the bow is pretty cheap (fiberglass I think) - not the worst bow ever made but you may want to replace it with a better quality one. Also, you will probably need to take it to a music... 4/5 Modern Mommy (Texas) - See all my reviews This review is from: Barcelona Beginner Series Electric Violin with Carrying Case and Accessories - White As a more classical violinist, I have always played on an accoustic. great product for the price!

i bought this violin and an amp recently. i am an experienced violin player, so i fixed the bridge, but when i tried to tune the e string, it snapped. i happened to have an extra for my acoustic, so i put that on and it has worked great! i LOVE the earphone plugin, because it gives me the normal sound, and it is quieter for anyone else in the house. this violin also has pretty good tone without earphones or an amp. i had to replace the shoulder rest, though, because it was pretty cheapy and to flat for me. ( i unscrewed it and now use a normal shoulder rest.) the bow is made of fiberglass, and is very cheapy,so i use my bow from my acoustic. i really like this violin, but if you're not willing to put alot of effort into "customizing" it, then this might not be for you. 4/5 C.
