    Great Quality Instrument!!

I have been playing violin for three years now and I felt it was time to take the plunge into the electric violin world. I was also looking for something relatively inexpensive since my main violin is on the higher end. This was the perfect choice.Sound - Try as it might, it just can't replicate the sound of an acoustic violin (which I wasn't looking for anyway). It can get pretty close though and all in all the sound is nice. The pickup is good, not the best quality but it does its job pretty well. As for being silent, it is quieter than an acoustic with a mute, but not completely silent.Construction/Look - The body is nice and solid unlike some of the cheap online instruments you can get. The finish is well done and the ebony pieces with mother of pearl inlays look rather nice. The inlays fall flush too, nothing sticking out at all. The pegs don't slip at all. The only thing I could find wrong with the construction was the bridge. It was a bit too high but... 5/5 Mike - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Totally AMAZING! But I have a question about the bridge...

I love this violin so much, it sounds great and looks great. I'm not rating the bow. It's a typical cheap bow but it works just fine. My only issue with this thing has to do with the bridge. It is so oddly shaped... It slants upward, making the G string MUCH higher than the E. What I'm used to is a perfect arch for a bridge. The G and E are even, and the D and A are even, both slightly higher than the G and E. From what I understand, this gives a better ability to switch strings. I believe it. My acoustic violin is very easily played, perfect arch, and I love it. This electric I love also, but it's sooo hard not to hit the G string while playing the D, It just feels weird. I'm either gonna shave it down or have it replaced. Bridges only costs a few bucks, that's why I'm giving this instrument a 5 star. I do wonder though if there are any advantages to this Bridge design? Thanks in advance. As for the rest of it, totally amazing!!! It's surprising, the headphones feel really... 5/5 Jessica Hurd "Jessica Hurd" - See all my reviews, January 4, 2011

    A high quality music instrument.

This violin was my birthday gift. The color is great, and the quality of the voice is awesome! I have been playing Violin, guitar and one other traditional music instrument called Santoor since many years ago. This violin is one of my bests. I plugged it into my guitar mixer and it sounds well. Even if you don't have a mixer or an AMP, don't worry. The violin by itself has a very loud and clear voice. The price used to be around $400 (according to amazon!) but now you can get it for less than $180 (140 + shipping and etc). I also ordered a Violin Shoulder Rest for about $15.00 so that let me play professionally. You cannot easily find a good quality violin electric like this in the market with this range price.Overall, I am happy with it, Thank God. 5/5 Pouria - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This violin is great. Easy to tune. Holds a good tune. Sounds great. The bose system I added is a plus. Hits the high notes warmly.WARNING. The violin does not come with strings, violin case, bow, etc. The picture is deceiving. You have to set up the bridge and string in the strings that you must buy separately. Highly recommended. I'm an experienced violin player (I have several decades of experience playing this instrument) and this violin plays, sounds and feels just like a regular acoustic violin. I use it a lot to practice at night so nobody hears me, it's IDEAL!Also important: the strings and bridge are regular components. So you can go to any violin shop to replace them should you need to do so at one point. 5/5 eViolin - See all my reviews This review is from: Yamaha SV-130 Concert Select Silent Electric Blue 4/4 Violin Highly recommended. Blue violin, not blue sound...

What should i say about this item more than "i am happy to receive this treasure of tecnologie in my hands". The sound is clear, and it has all the qualities of an accustic violin, it sounds very good in live performances and from the begining it gave me the comfort, like i used this violin for years, it became mine from the very begining. Im stronger and more comfortable now in my performances. 5/5 Monika Tahiri - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Sale Price of $695 is the regular retail price - no "sale" here

This violin is used by a professional violinist I know and she loves it - can highly recommend the make and model. But the price is not usually $995 at other sources. Regular price here is a huge mark-up, so the "sale" of $695 is actually just the regular price. 5/5 L. Baughman (Seattle) - See all my reviews, May 12, 2011

    Excelent instrument

I have several years studying violin. I bought this yamaha SV-130 and the sound is amazing. It has a beautiful design, good sound and is very versatile. I have another acoustic violin the Cremona 1260, it is an excellent violin. But when I compared the sound in D string between 2 violins, in the yamaha violin it sounds a little different. But in general this is a good instrument. I bought that I hope, a very good electrical violin. The case, bow and violin arrived in exclt conditions. 5/5 Alexander C. - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Way too expensive for its value.

The low rating is for the high cost - money per value - this violin should have costed $700-800 maximum. The current price is an obvious rip-off.- The sound is OK, but could be better- The plastic shoulder stem is too soft and bends all the time which requires over pressure from the shoulder leading to shoulder ache.- You must use the provided preamp, you can use your custom preamps afterwards in the signal chain, but requires carrying an extra weight. 1/5 Shimmy Weitzhandler "Shimmy" (Israel) - See all my reviews This review is from: Yamaha SV-250 4 String Electric Violin The low rating is for the high cost - money per value - this violin should have costed $700-800 maximum. I love this Fiddle!

I saw Laurie Anderson in concert 6 months ago, playing this violin. Incredible sound and cool design. I immediately checked the web site and found out the violin had been reduced from $4,500 to $2250, way out of my price range! Then, a month ago NS dropped the price to $599 with this WAV version. With no retail stores in Florida, I decided to get one from Amazon. Overnight shipment had it in my hands the next day, Amazon Prime rocks! The fiddle sounds great, I had been using an old Yamaha SV 100 and the sound is definitely much cleaner. And right out of the box, the fiddle was in tune; his radical tuning system is rock solid, try shipping a standard tune fiddle across country overnight and see if it stays in tune. I added a Glasser braided carbon bow and D'Addario Helicore violin medium strings and the resulting sound is incredible, I had no idea the sound could be so silky smooth. I have been playing for a while, but I have always felt that to get really good, I would need to... 5/5 Joe Hand (Florida) - See all my reviews, February 20, 2009

    Great looks, better value.

I'm not an expert violinist by any means, but as someone who has played classically for 6 years, this instrument has a great clean sound. You can always add distortion and shred to your hearts content, but having a full clean tone is what sets an expensive electric instrument apart from a cheap one.No electric instrument will ever have the mellow sound of an acoustic instrument. In fact, it's kind of a different animal altogether.. colder, more metallic are a few words that come to mind. However with the right strings and a good amp, the clean sound from this violin can be very nice and full sounding.Ned Steinberger hit a home run with this one. The design is more of a reinvention of a violin than anything. Every feature is very well thought out, and there's no extraneous ornamentation. The shape and contouring of the body is sleek and contemporary, yet still has a certain elegance only a violin can have. The body is solid wood, and you can feel the strings... 5/5 Hua Liu - See all my reviews, March 20, 2011

    Wow!

Firstly, I am have played the fiddle for 15+ years now & have never owned an electric. With that in mind, I will say this - I love this violin. I am amazed by the incredible tone and playability of it. When trying to find an amp for it at the music stores I continually received compliments on how good it sounded. I loved playing it so much that I all but forgot about my acoustic, and when I finally got back to playing the acoustic it felt bulky and awkward. Some have complained about the shoulder rest system, but after a few weeks I actually like it better than my acoustic set up. The violin itself is beautiful (I have the red one). I did a lot of research before buying this violin, and I believe that for the price, you won't do better. 5/5 vohvelipaa (USA) - See all my reviews This review is from: NS Design WAV 4 Violin Amberburst (Electronics) Firstly, I am have played the fiddle for 15+ years now & have never owned an electric. Very good product.

I'll repeat what I wrote to the seller about the product: "Violin is awesome. Tone is great and the look is really nice. Worth the purchase price for sure. Recommend buying some peg drops for slipping pegs, but that's a mere $7 for a long time supply. Worked for me and only requires minor adjustments before I practice." I would also suggest buying a shoulder rest for it.So in review:Absolutely worth buyingBuy some peg drops (~$7)Buy a shoulder rest (payed $20 at a local shop) 5/5 Corey Rogers (Georgia) - See all my reviews, September 6, 2010

    Okayish

Well, to start off...The strings suck, and so does the rosin. I've played the violin a little over seven years now, and this is good for it's price. It has a nice tone for being so lowly priced, but, not the best. When you play, the strings hurt your fingers(or atleast mine) and your fingers get all black from the neck. But all together it is decent. 4/5 Karen Sekona (Hawaii) - See all my reviews, May 19, 2010

    Couldn't be worse

I'm amazed that anyone wrote a positive review of this. To start, I attempted to set it up and three of the four strings broke immediately (the fourth would probably have, but I didn't have the heart to give it tension). The bow had about 15 strands of horse hair and is undersized. Two of the pegs were too small for the holes and would never have fit. The audio, when plugged in, was barely audible and the headsets so cheap that I've gotten better ones on airplanes. The supplied rosin was like a pad of plastic and did nothing, so I used some of my own to test the sound quality on the remaining (untuned) string. I'm not a perfectionist, but this was absurd. I can't believe it has so many good reviews. Maybe they used to make it better. Run as fast as you can away from this. 1/5 Laurie Devine (phoenix az) - See all my reviews, May 16, 2013

I bought this to take to Afghanistan on deployment so I could practice while I'm here. Its rugged enough that it made the trip with no problems, but I practice it without headphones so I can more easily match the sound with the resonance of the instrument. The headphones sound fine, but I prefer to play without them so I can concentrate on the natural vibration of the instrument.I used it at a country gig the weekend before I came and plugged directly into a Fender Tube amp sans preamp or equalizer, but wasn't happy with the sound - too high. I didn't have time to experiment with tweaking the sound, so thats probably less about the instrument. I enjoyed having the quarter inch jack to plug into instead of having to worry that I was going to scratch the wood on my regular violin with the pickup grip. While deployed, I've been able to plug the violin into my Bose desktop computer speakers and it sounds much better than through the fender guitar amp.
